Larchelle Tuifao (Ewa Beach, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kapolei) and outfielder
Ryan Ruch (San Diego/Patrick Henry) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition between Feb. 12-18.
Tuifao hit .818 (9-for-11) with two home runs, seven RBI and four runs in the softball team's series against Texas Permian Basin and Western Oregon. In the two-game series against UTPB, the junior was 5-for-8 with five RBI and her second-inning homer in Game 1 was the first to leave the yard in the brief history of Silversword Field, a blast estimated to have traveled 250 feet. Tuifao was 4-for-4 against WOU with two RBI, two runs and another homer while walking four times.
Ruch hit .471 (8-of-17) with 11 RBI and four runs with three extra base hits in the baseball team's singe game against Saint Martin's and four-game non-conference series against Hawai'i Hilo. The freshman drove in five against the Saints then six more against the Vulcans.
