Men’s Golf Ends First Spring Tournament in 16th

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team wrapped up their first spring championship match in 16th at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, hosted by Cal State East Bay.
 
The Silverswords totaled 608 after a third and final round 301 at the par-72, 6,811-yard Corica Golf Course, finishing 16 shots better than Westmont College.
 
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) and Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) both finished the 54-hole event at 7-over-par 223, tied for 48th overall. Yeager shot a final-round 2-over 74 while DuBourdieu was 4-over in the final day.
 
Yeager was a model of consistency on the final day with 13 pars, tied for 10th in the field, while DuBourdieu led the team in total birdies with 11 during the tournament.
 
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) tied Yeager for the 'Swords' low round on Tuesday with a 2-over.
 
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) finished at 235 while Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) totaled a 249.
 
Western New Mexico won the team title at 28-under-par 836, 16 shots better than runner-up CSU East Bay.
 
Shion Suzuki of Hawai'i Pacific University captured medalist honors at 11-under 205, defeating WNMU's Arnav Arkanath by one stroke.
 
The Silverswords are next in action at the Hot Dirt Shootout, co-hosted by the Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian University on April 5. The tournament will be at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona.
