GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Chaminade University men's golf team opened the first two rounds of the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, hosted by Western New Mexico University, in 18th at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club.
The Silverswords shot 593 over the first 36 holes and hold a four stroke lead over Texas A&M International. The 'Swords opened the morning 18 with a 298 then followed it up with a 295 in the afternoon's second round.
Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) is a 1-over-par 145 and tied for 38th overall. DuBourdieu carded four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 2nd hole, shooting 1-over after the first round. He had five more birdies in the afternoon round for an even-par 72.
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) had dual 1-over 73s in both rounds including six birdies in the morning round.
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) has a two-round total of 7-over 151 followed by
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) at 9-over.
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) is at 10-over after 36 holes.
Colorado Christian is the team leader at 549 while the individual Round 2 leaders are Ron Kildall of Fort Lewis, Adam Niles of Western New Mexico and Seth Bearden of Midwestern State.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the 18-hole final round.
