GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Chaminade University men's golf team capped off their regular season Tuesday with a 19th-place finish at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club.
The Silverswords, who finished just one shot behind Texas A&M International, carded a final round 290 for a total of 883, setting a new school record for lowest team score in a 54-hole event. The previous mark was 885, set at the 2017 Pacific West Conference Championships at the Turtle Bay Fazio Course in Kahuku.
Also setting a new standard was
Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek), who tied for 28th overall in the 104-player field with a final round 2-under-par 70 to finish his three rounds at 1-under 215. The previous record was 1-over 217, set twice during the 2016-17 season by Jeren Nishimoto and Michael Milton.
DuBourdieu had six birdies in the final round and had 15 during the entire tournament.
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) finished at 3-over 219, tied for fifth-lowest in a 54-hole event in the school record book. The freshman was a model of consistency, shooting 1-over all three days.
