KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chaminade University men's basketball team was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for their work in the classroom on Monday, earning the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award while nine Silverswords were individually named to the NABC Honors Court.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award goes to men's basketball programs which complete the 2023-24 academic year with team GPAs over 3.00. It is the ninth straight season the Silverswords have earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
Earning recognition on the NABC Honors Court were
Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic),
Scott Ator (Murphy, Texas/College of the Sequoias/Wylie HS),
Chris Bready (Milwaukee, Wis./New Mexico Military Institute/Waukesha West HS),
Lennon Lindholm (DuBois, Pa./Univ. of Pittsburgh-Bradford/DuBois HS),
Wyatt Lowell (Gilbert, Ariz./University of Portland/William Fields HS),
Kameron Ng (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Univ. of Hawai'i Hilo/Saint Francis HS),
Ross Reeves (Orem, Utah/Snow College/Orem HS),
Kelton Samore (Portland, Ore./Seattle Pacific University/Grant HS) and
Jessiya Villa (Laurel, Md./University of Hawai'i/Kahuku HS, Hawai'i).
NABC Honors Court recipients are required to be juniors, seniors or graduate men's basketball student-athletes who finished the '23-24 academic term with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20.
Amaral-Artharee, the program's No. 2 career scorer who exhausted his athletic eligibility this past spring after being in a Chaminade uniform since 2018, was recognized on the Honors Court for the third time. Ator, Bready and Villa are two-time recipients.
