LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's soccer team is picked to finish sixth in the Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, as conducted by conference coaches.
The Silverswords received 120 points with Azusa Pacific at fourth with 156 points and Westmont fifth with 143.
Point Loma, the defending Division II national champions and United Soccer Coaches Preseason No. 1, was selected to repeat as PacWest champions, receiving 183 points with 12 first-place votes. Concordia University Irvine is second with 177 points and one first-place vote followed by the University of Hawai'i Hilo which received the final first-place vote and 171 points.
Coming off their third straight seven-win season, Chaminade returns eight starters including All-PacWest honorees
Haley Mo'okini (San Gabriel, Calif./Gabrielino) and
Delaney Buntin (Vail, Ariz./Pima CC/Cienega HS).
The 'Swords open their season Saturday with an exhibition contest against Lewis & Clark College at Saint Louis Field with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
