HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team has seen remarkable success recently, recording at last six wins in each of the last four years prior to the start of the 2025 campaign.
Although the Silverswords could not replicate that success for a fifth straight year, there were plenty of signs of being close to achieving more victories they were anticipating.
Despite having difficulty in putting the ball in the net, the trademark defense was in full effect once again. Chaminade posted a goals-against average of 0.79, the second lowest in school history, and the fourth time in the past five years they had a GAA of under 1.00.
The Silverswords notched six shutouts including five 0-0 draws, tying the NCAA Division II record for scoreless games set in 2003 and 2018.
Grabbing the headlines was first year goalkeeper
Maddie Merrick (Parker, Colo./Creighton University/Legend HS) who played all 1,260 team minutes. Her six clean sheets tied the single season record set twice by Naomi Takata (2022, 2023).
The 2025 season also saw the end of careers of several impactful Silverswords.
Haley Mo'okini (San Gabriel, Calif./Gabrielino), who played several positions on the pitch but was mainly a defender, left her mark as one of the top attackers with 11 goals, tied for third in program history while her 25 points is fourth. She is also the program's career leader with six game-winning goals and the co-leader in penalty kick goals with four.
Forward
Clara Slate-Liu (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada/Ecolè Alpha Secondary), who played five seasons, had four career assists, just one behind the program's all-time lead. Defender
Kaila Levoit (Cypress, Calif./Golden West College/Cypress HS), who joined the 'Swords in 2024, leaves with three.
Forward
Isabella Narvaez (Vail, Ariz./Cienega) set career highs with 21 shots and nine shots on-goal and wraps up her career in eighth with 47 total shots.
