Four members from the Chaminade University women's basketball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Sameera Elmasri (Shawnee, Kan./Birmingham-Southern Univ./Saint Thomas Aquinas HS),
Madison Gage (Broomfield, Colo./Legacy),
Ashley Holen (Watford City, N.D./Minot State University/Watford City HS) and
Amaya Washington (Peoria, Ariz./Dream City Christian) were all recognized for outstanding work in the classroom.
Elmasri is a double major in both Biology and Biochemistry with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.98. She wrapped up her two-year Silversword career as the program's fifth all-time leading scorer with 723 points while her 76 made 3-pointers is seventh all-time. Her 333 rebounds also ranks No. 7 in the program annals.
Gage is one of three 'Swords on the CSC Academic All-Region Team to boast a 4.00 GPA with her major being Biology. The sophomore played in all 26 games this season and was a key member off the bench, totaling 76 points and 39 boards.
Holen also carries a 4.00 GPA in Data Science and Computer Science. The junior also played all 26 contests and was also a key member on the reserve squad.
Washington, like Gage and Holen, is at 4.00, majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications. The sophomore posted a 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds average in 25 games this season, making 15 3-pointers.
To be recognized on the Academic All-District team, candidates must be a sophomore both academically and athletically, have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and have played in either 90 percent or have started in 66 percent of their team's contests.
Institutions can nominate up to four candidates for Academic All-District honors.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II Academic All-America® programs.
