Men’s Golf in Ninth at PacWest First Round

NORTH LAS VEGAS – The Chaminade University men's golf team is ninth after the opening round of the Pacific West Conference Championships at the par-72, 6,950-yard Aliante Golf Course.
 
The Silverswords shot a 307 and are one shot behind Dominican University of California.
 
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) is tied for 17th overall after carding a first round 2-over-par 74.
 
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) and Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) are both a shot behind Stopp at 3-over 75.
 
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) carded a 9-over 81 while A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) rounded out the 'Swords at 90.
 
Hawai'i Pacific University is the first round leader at 282, just two shots ahead of defending PacWest champion University of Hawai'i Hilo.
 
Four golfers are tied atop the individual leaderboard after the opening round at 4-under: UH Hilo's Katsuhiro Yamashita and Dylan Bercan, HPU's Fisher Ransom and Menlo's Paul Hautborg. Rico See of HPU is two shots behind the leaders.
 
Tuesday's second round tees off at 4 a.m. Hawai'i time.
