NORTH LAS VEGAS – The Chaminade University men's golf team on Wednesday concluded the Pacific West Conference Championships in ninth.
The Silverswords shot a final round 313 at the par-72, 6,950-yard Aliante Golf Course, finishing at 939 for the tournament, 14 shots behind eighth-place Dominican University of California.
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) fired a final round 2-over-par 74, finishing at 7-over 223, jumping up six spots to end the tournament tied for 17th overall.
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) finished at 17-over after carding a third round 5-over.
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) totaled 243 after shooting 8-over in the final round which included a bogey-free last six holes which included a birdie on the par-4 16th.
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) rounded out the 'Swords at 254 after shooting 8-over on Wednesday.
The University of Hawai'i Hilo pulled away down the stretch to capture its second straight PacWest Championship at 7-under, eight shots better than runner-up Hawai'i Pacific University.
UH Hilo's Dylan Bercan and Jessup University's Michael Sorber were co-medalists at 7-under 209. Bercan won in a one-hole playoff to become the PacWest individual champion.
Although they did not qualify to compete in the upcoming NCAA Regionals, Chaminade will be in action a final time this season when they compete in the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship, where they are the defending Division II national champions. The three-round event will be at the Whistling Straits Golf Course in Kohler, Wisconsin, starting Monday, May 5. The Golf Channel and Peacock (NBC's streaming app) will provide select Division II national television coverage.
