KOHLER, Wis. – The Chaminade University men's golf team shot a second-round 307 at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championships at the Whistling Straits Golf Course on Tuesday.
The Silverswords, who moved up one spot to fourth after two rounds, are at 615 and sit 13 shots behind co-leaders Kentucky State and Fayetteville State. Chaminade is the defending Division II PWCC national champions.
The second round took place at the par-72, 6,743-yard Straits Course.
Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) fired a 1-under-par 71 in Round 2, putting him in fifth at 2-over 146. The sophomore is eight shots off the lead heading into the final round.
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) made the biggest leap among the 'Swords golfers, moving up seven spots in a tie for 12th after carding a second round 3-over 75. Last year's PWCC runner-up is at 9-over 153 after 36 holes.
Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) shot an 81 on Tuesday, putting him at 13-over 157 for the tournament.
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) carded an 80 in his second 18 holes for a two-round total of 163.
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) shot 85 on Tuesday, putting him at 164.
Wednesday's final round returns to the Irish Course where the Division II first round was held. Dalhk will be the first Silversword to tee off, at 3:55 a.m. Hawai'i time. He will be followed by Buonopane (4:05), Yeager (4:15), Alexander (4:25) and Stopp (4:35).
