LAHAINA, Maui, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's basketball team will open the 2025 Southwest Airlines Maui Invitational against Washington State on Monday, Nov. 24 at the Lahaina Civic Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Hawai'i time and will be televised on ESPNU.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Silverswords and Cougars, who are members of the Pac-12 Conference but temporarily competing in the West Coast Conference as an affiliate member since last season. WSU was 19-15 in 2024-25 with an 8-10 mark in the WCC.
Chaminade will face either Arizona State or Texas in Tuesday's second round.
The other half of the bracket has North Carolina State against Seton Hall and Boise State facing off against USC. All 12 games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks. The championship game will be on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
It will mark the 38th Southwest Airlines Maui Invitational appearance for the Silverswords who have eight all-time wins on the Valley Island. Chaminade's last win in tournament was against Cal in 2017.
This year will be the first time the Silverswords will play at the Lahaina Civic Center since the 2019 tournament. In 2021, the Invitational was relocated to Las Vegas due to state of Hawai'i COVID-19 restrictions while the 2023 tournament was moved to the University of Hawai'i's Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu because of the Lahaina wildfires. The 2022 and 2024 tournaments were in Lahaina.
Head coach
Eric Bovaird is entering his 15th season as Chaminade head coach with a 200-176 mark, the second-most wins in program history, trailing only the late Merv Lopes' 238. Eight returnees are back from last year's squad that went 16-11 and 10-10 in the Pacific West Conference.
