Buck, Schneider Named All-PacWest Softball

IRVINE, Calif. – Two members of the Chaminade University softball team were named All-Pacific West Conference on Monday in voting taken by the conference coaches.
 
Summer Buck (Honolulu/Kaiser) was named as the second team catcher while Gabriella Schneider (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Alta Loma) was voted as second team utility player. It is the first PacWest postseason honors for both Silverswords.
 
Buck started all 43 games and finished the 2026 season fifth in the PacWest in hitting with a .385 average while finishing second in on-base percentage (.480), fifth in slugging percentage (.631) and third OPS (1.111). The junior led the conference with 19 doubles, which tied the school's single season record, and reached base in her final 17 games. Defensively, she threw out five runners attempting to steal.
 
Buck led the 'Swords with 47 base hits, 24 RBI, 22 runs, four triples and 20 walks and hit her first career home run at Hawai'i Hilo on Feb. 21. Aside from 25 starts behind the plate, she started another 14 at second base, two at third and two at designated player.
 
Buck's selection marks the fourth straight year a Chaminade catcher was named to the all-conference teams.
 
Schneider hit .288 in her first year as a starter, getting 19 nods at designated player and 18 as Buck's backup at catcher. The sophomore, who nearly doubled her average from her freshman season, had an OPS of .772 and finished the season second on the team with nine doubles while driving in 12 runs while crossing the plate 13 times herself. She also posted a .977 fielding percentage with just one error and threw out three would-be base stealers.
 
Biola had both the PacWest Player and Pitcher of the Year in Kendall Nakano and DJ Symonds, respectively. Lexie Tilton of UH Hilo was the Defender of the Year, Concordia's Morgan Kneubuhler the Newcomer of the Year, Biola's Lizzie Byer the Freshman of the Year and CUI's Crystal Rosenthal the Coach of the Year.
