HONOLULU – The Chaminade University men's soccer team on Sunday returned to the Saint Louis Field pitch in a first-ever meeting against the University of Texas at Dallas.
Facing against a team from the Lone Star Conference for just the third time in program history, the Silverswords saw the Comets score twice in the final 45 minutes to thwart their efforts in the 2-0 setback.
UTD got the game's first goal in the 61st minute on a header by Ossion Elgstrom off a corner kick. They got an insurance goal in the 83rd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper
James Boudiette (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) made his first career start and faced nine shots, making two saves.
Chaminade (0-3) took five tries at the UTD net with
Vlad Tomutiu (Belmont, Calif./Cañada College/Carlmont HS) firing away twice, both on-goal.
Chance Therrien (Charlotte, Vt./University of St. Thomas/Champlain Valley Union HS) also had one on target.
Mykah Harris (Fife, Wash./Utah Valley University/Fife HS) and
Oliver Horgan (Reno, Nev./Cal Poly Humboldt/Galena HS) both took single tries at the net.
Harris,
Masen Heu (Makawao, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Maui) and
Allen Velasquez (Frisco, Texas/Central Connecticut State University/Memorial HS) played all 90 minutes of the match.
Ryder Clayborn made three saves to help Texas-Dallas improve to 3-1-1 and complete their Hawai'i trip with two wins and a loss.
The 'Swords are on the mainland for the first time this year to start a stretch of seven straight road games with two games against Great Northwest Athletic Conference foes. They open the roadie on Thursday at Saint Martin's University then at Western Oregon on Saturday.
