Honolulu, HI- In a doubleheader at Central Oahu Regional Park, the Lady Swords came up just short in two contests with BYU-Hawaii 5-2, 11-9.
In game one, the Seasiders got the lead for good with 2 runs in the top of the 5th, and added an insurance run in the sixth, right after CUH had tied the game in the bottom of the fourth at 2-2. Kristin Prokop drove in both runs for Chaminade, while Tara Hiramatsu went 3-4 in game one with a double. Orosz led the Seasiders attack with three hits and Haertling got the win for BYU-H scattering 5 hits over 7 innings. Marissa Tybor (1-3) took the loss for the Silverswords.
The second game of the doubleheader was a barn-burner that BYU-H eventually won, but not before some great play on both sides of the diamond. Tara Hiramatsu continued her hot hitting in a big way, hitting for the cycle in a 5-5 game two effort. Hiramatsu was an impressive 8-9 on the day. Kehaulani Yamaguchi went 2-4 with 2 RBI's for the Lady Swords. Haertling, the winning pitcher in game one, took her turn on offense and went 4-5 for the Seasiders. Going in to the 7th, Chaminade led 6-5, before BYU-H exploded for 6 runs to start the inning. CUH's rally fell just short and the game concluded 11-9 BYU-H. Alcala took the loss for Chaminade as the the Swords fell to 2-6 on the year.
There is no time to rest however, Chaminade is back in action on Sunday at HPU. First pitch is set for noon.
