Swords Split With BYU-Hawaii

Laie, HI- In the opener for Chaminade softball, the Swords split with the Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii, dropping the first game in a high scoring affair 11-10, before winning the second 7-5.

In the first game, Heidi Garcia led the Sword attack with three of CUH's 10 hits, while Kristin Prokop homered in the loss. Marissa Tybor (0-1) took the loss for Chaminade, giving up 10 hits in 5 innings of work. BYU-Hawaii had 11 hits in game one, including 3 by Rebecca Orosz and a homer by pitcher, Tess Haertling.

Chaminade evened their record in the second game with Annaliese Moergeli(1-0) getting the win, spreading nine hits out over seven innings, while CUH got in rolling offensively, hammering out 16 hits in the win. Six Swords had multiple hit games in game 2.

On the day, Tara Hiramatsu had 4 hits and scored 3 runs for the Swords, while Kristin Prokop added 4 hits and 4 RBI's in the two games.

BYU is 2-2 on the year, while Chaminade is now 1-1 for the season, with a doubleheader against Arkansas-Monticello on Sunday. First pitch is set for 12:00pm.
