Honolulu, HI - In game one the bats were not swinging for Chaminade as BYU-Hawaii scored 7 runs in the second to put the Swords away with a final of 8-0. Game two proved to be much tighter through four innings until the Seasiders prevailed with a 3 run fifth inning to close the door on CUH 7-4.
In the first game of the Silverswords Pac West opener Chaminade went hitless through 5 innings of play. BYU-Hawaii drove in 7 runs in the second inning and finished off the Swords with a single run in the fifth.
The second game saw CUH get on top early with 2 runs in the first inning. BYU-Hawaii countered in the fourth inning tying the game at 2 runs apiece. The Seasiders pulled away in the fifth inning scoring 3 more runs and added 2 more in the top of the sixth. Chaminade tried to mount a come back in the bottom of the sixth with a 2 run rally. Ultimately it proved to be to little to late as they were held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to fall to BYU-Hawaii 7-4
Sasaki and Fisher led the Swords with 3 hits each over the two games, with three other players logging 2 hits each.
The Seasiders were led by De La Cruz and Bruce with 4 hits each and De La Cruz putting one over the fence for a home run. De La Cruz finished the night with a team high 4 RBI's
With the losses, Chaminade falls to 0-3 on the year, while BYU-Hawaii moves to 5-3 with the victory.
Chaminade faces Hawaii Pacific University at home for a doubleheader at 12 Noon on February 19th.
