Swords Softball Drop Double-Header To HPU

Honolulu, HI - In the first game of Monday's double-header the Swords struggled with only 3 hits and 4 errors in route to a 11-2 Loss. In Game two Chaminade had 5 hits and only 2 errors but it was not enough as HPU racked up 9 runs to win 9-1.

In game one the Silverswords held the Sea Warriors scoreless through the first two innings and logged a single run of their own to start off the first with a bang. The third inning proved to be a long one for CUH as 8 runners crossed home plate for HPU. In the fourth inning Hawaii Pacific added on 3 more runs and held Chaminade to 1 for a final score of 11-2

The second game saw HPU get on top early with 3 runs in the first inning. CUH countered with a single run in the bottom of the first. The Sea Warriors pulled away in the second inning scoring 3 more runs and added 2 more in the top of the third. A single run in the top of the fifth inning finished off the swords with a score of 9-1.

Yamaguchi led the Swords with 3 hits over the two games, with five other players logging 1 hit each. Sasaki had a solo home run in game two.

The Sea Warriors were led by Casey Sugihara with 5 hits and 2 RBI's on the afternoon. Krystal Plunkett had a team high 4 RBI's.

With the losses, Chaminade falls to 0-5 on the year, while Hawaii Pacific moves to 5-1 with the victory.

Chaminade faces The University of Hawaii, Hilo at home for a doubleheader 12:00 Noon, February 24th.
