Chaminade WVB: Swords Back on Winning Track, Beat GCU 3-2

Kauliakamoa leads with double-double (15 kills, 27 digs)

Phoenix, AZ- Chaminade responded in a big way tonight, winning 3-2 over Grand Canyon in Antelope Gym.

 

 The Swords were down early, losing game one 25-18.  The 'Lopes took game two 25-23 to put the Swords on the brink of defeat.  The Lady Swords responded with a balanced attack, taking game three 25-23.  Chaminade had five players with double-digit kills, Trina Kauliakamoa led with 15, Samantha Miller added 14 and Vanja Radanovic added 11.

 

Pisila Tukia and Courtney Lorusso added 10 kills apiece for Chaminade.  Tukia hit .769 for the match.    

 

Tanya Alvino had 35 assists to go along with 9 digs to lead the offense.  Krisitina Donathan added 14 assists off the bench.    Chauntelle Maduli added 15 digs in the win. 

 

Offensively, both teams were strong, with GCU out-hitting CUH by a single percentage point .217 to .216.  Chaminade won the block battle 9-6.

 

GCU was led by Megan Toth with 18 kills.  

 

With the win, Chaminade moves to 9-9 on the year.  Grand Canyon falls to 9-8. 

 

The Lady Swords return home on October 10th to face Hawaii Pacific.  First serve is set for 7PM at McCabe Gym.
