Chaminade Women’s Volleyball Defeats Embry-Riddle (AZ) 3-0

Honolulu, HI- First match of the season.  Win.  Just hours before they play West Region power Cal Poly Pomona, the Lady Swords disposed of the Eagles of Embry-Riddle 25-22, 25-21 and 25-19 to go to 1-0 on the season.

 

Chaminade was led by Courtney Lorusso with 15 kills and Trina Kauliakamoa with 10 kills (.375) and 8 digs on the afternoon.  Preseason all-conference setter, Tanya Alvino led CUH with 28 assists. 

 

Coach Glennie Adams was happy getting a win, but showed some concern.  “We need to do better defensively.”  The Swords were out-dug 49-35.

 

Chaminade's offense fared better, hitting .287 from the floor on 38 kills.  Embry Riddle hit .190 on the afternoon.  Gina Conley led the Eagles with 11 kills, and Jessica Stehle added 23 assists.

 

The Swords are back in action at 7PM HT tonight in McCabe Gym.  They face the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona.  With the loss, Embry-Riddle falls to 2-1 on the year.
