San Bernardino, CA- The Swords Men’s Soccer started out strong this afternoon against Cal State San Bernardino in a non-conference affair. Sophomore Chad Thompson put the Swords up 1-0 in the 27th minute with the first goal of the match.
The Coyotes answered in the 44th minute with the first of three goals by Jose Godinez. Godinez also had an assist. The match went into the half 1-1.
Cal State San Bernardino went up 2-1 on a goal by Albert Cabrera in the 56th minute. Cabrera added another goal later in the match. The Coyotes took control of the game in the second half, out-scoring Chaminade 6-0 in the last 45 minutes, including two goals in the last minute of the match.
CUH was out-shot 23-5 in defeat. Matt Muntz had seven saves for the Swords.
With the loss, Chaminade falls to 1-9-1. Cal State San Bernardino moves to 4-5-1 overall. The Swords are back in action at home against BYU-Hawaii on October 4th. Game time is set for 3:00 PM HT on St. Louis Field.
