Chaminade WVB: Swords Battle Dixie State, But Fall in Four Sets

Freshman Pedro, Viveiros have double-doubles for Swords

Honolulu, HI- The Swords lost a Pac West Conference tonight in four sets (25-23, 15-25, 20-25, 15-25) to the Red Storm of Dixie State.Boxscore.htm     

 

Freshman Kylee Pedro (Honolulu, HI/Mid Pacific) and Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) led the way with double-doubles for CUH.  Pedro had 10 kills, 11 digs, while Viveiros added 10 kills and 13 digs. Senior Courtney Lorusso (Los Angeles, CA/Glendora) notched 12 kills for Chaminade.

 

Senior Chauntelle Maduli (Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) led the Swords with 14 digs in defeat.  Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 34 assists for CUH. 

 

The Swords lost the dig battle 77-73.  Dixie State won the battle of hitting percentage .223 to .070.   

 

Kristina Donathan (Mililani, HI/ St. Andrew's Priory) pitched in defensively, adding 11 digs for the Swords. 

 

The Red Storm were led by Alex Shearer with 13 kills. 

 

With the loss, Chaminade drops to 4-18.  Dixie State moves to 13-5.  The Swords are back in action at home on Friday, Oct. 23rd against Dixie State.  First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
