Lahaina, HI- In Chaminade's final game in the EA Sports 2009 Maui Invitational, the Swords took on the Buffaloes of University of Colorado @ Boulder and lost a heartfelt battle 73 to 58. CUH headed into the break trailing by only 3 points, despite shooting 25% from the floor as a team. Ultimately though, the bigger, stronger Buffaloes proved to be a bit much for Chaminade.
Junior Steven Bennett scored 22 points for the Swords. He went 5 for 7 from the three point line, he shot 50% from the floor and he also grabbed 4 rebounds. Junior Shane Hanson also contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Chaminade lost the rebounding battle 36 to 31, they shot 55% from the floor from the free throw line compared to the Buffaloes 82%, CUH struggled in the second half from the line making only 5 of 12 shots taken.
University of Colorado had four players in double figures, Alec Burks and Marcus Relphorde led the way with 13 points apiece. While Austin Dufault and Dwight Thorne II had a combined total of 22 points, Dufault had 12 and Throne II had 10 point for the Buffaloes.
With the loss, the Silverswords fall to 0-3 overall, while Colorado improves to 4-2 overall. Chaminade next plays at McCabe Gym @ 7:30PM against University of Laverne on December 4th.
