WBB: Silverswords fall to UH Hilo 68 to 61

Honolulu, HI- Vince Lombardi once said, “Winners never quit and quitters never win.” Though Chaminade lost last night a it was a close heart felt battle and they played their best game of basketball all season. They ended up losing by only 7 points to the Vulcans of University of Hawaii @ Hilo.

 

Jasmine Dulan led the way for Chaminade with 22 points and 3 rebounds. She went 6 for 13 overall, 4 for 10 from behind the arch and a perfect 6 for 6 from the charity line. She said, “Last night was unbelievable, we played our hearts out. We almost had it; I am so proud of my teammates and wish we could have gotten that W last night. We get mor chance at Hilo and I know we are going to be ready. The first half really hurt us, I don't know what we shot from the floor, but I know we missed a bunch. None the less, we will be ready to go on Friday.”

 

Chaminade shot 29% from the floor the first half and in the second half bounced back strong shooting nearly 46%. The free throw line continued to be solid source of points for the Swords, they shot 94% from the line. They shot 15 for 16.

 

University of Hawaii @ Hilo was led by Jessica Hanato, she scored 25 points and grabbed 6 boards off the glass for the Vulcans.

 

With the loss Chaminade falls to 0-26 overall and 0-11 in the Pacific West conference. UH Hilo improves their record to 14-8 overall and 5-6 in the Pacific West Conference. Chaminade concludes their season this Friday night in McCabe Gym when they square of against UH-Hilo, tip off is set for 5:30PM HST.
