CUH WSB: Swords Fall to Waseda University 6 to 3 and 5 to 0

Skye Virtudes hits 2nd homer of season

Waipahu, HI-   Cold and rainy conditions today at CORPS field for Chaminade as they took on Waseda University from Japan. The Swords battled tough the first game falling only 6 to 3 and the second game struggled a bit with hitting losing 5 to 0; despite the losses the team never gave up and displayed tremendous courage through out.

 

Game # 1 Skye Virtdues smashed in her second homerun of the season in the bottom of the 1st inning. She brought home with her Chasity Senas who previously had gotten on base on a single to center field. Both Kasy'e Lalau and Chelsi Walls spilt time on the mound today. Kasy'e started the game and pitched 4 solid innings, Chelsi Walls pitched the remainder of the game; she gave up 4 hits 1 earned run in three innings of pitching.

 

Kasy'e Lalau was charged with the loss, she falls to 1-9 on the year. She faced 17 batters, gave up 3 hits, 2 earned runs and she struck out 2.

 

Game # 2-  This game was tough from the get go, Chaminade came out looking to build on the momentum created from the first game, however came up short, falling 5 to 0 and only having 1 hit all 7 innings.

 

The Swords faced three different pitchers this inning; they couldn't really seem to figure out any of the pitchers this game. The one hit was given as an error to in the bottom of the 3rd inning on Erin Keelan's ground ball to short stop, which she bobbled and eventually threw to first but Erin Keelan had already made it safely to the base.

 

Kasy'e Lalau is charged with the loss, she falls to 1 and 10 overall. She faced 12 batters, gave up 8 hits and she struck out 1.

 

With the loss, CUH moves to 1-17 overall and 0-4 in the Pac West Conference, Chaminade hosts Notre Dame de Namur on March 11th, 2009. Game time is set 4:30 PM HST this game is a double header and will be played CORPS Field.
