Stanislaus, CA- The Chaminade softball team opened the 2009 Tournament of Champions Presented by Mizuno with losses against UC San Diego, by a score of 11 to 1 and CSU San Bernardino, by a score of 9 to 2. Kristine Mihara contributed two RBI's on a single and double.
The Swords started gave up 4 runs to start off the first game of the morning against UC San Diego Tritons and 7 more runs during the last 4 innings, the Silverswords of Chaminade did manage to attempt a comeback in the bottom of the 5th, but the Tritons appeared to be too far ahead at that point.
Kasy;e Lalau got the start today and pitched two innings. She gave up 8 hits, 6 earned runs and 1 walk. She faced 13 batters total, with the loss she falls to 6-12 on the season.
Game # 2- The second game was proved to be a battle for the first few innings as Chaminade led by a score 1 to 0 heading into the Top of the 3rd inning. The Coyotes however, scored 9 more runs to the Silverswords 1 and secured themselves a lopsided win over Chaminade 9 runs to 2.
Chelsi Walls started the game and was taken out halfway third of way through the 4th inning; she gave up 10 hits, 8 earned runs, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. She faced 26 total batters. With the loss today she falls to 1-15 on the season.
Chaminade falls to 7-27 overall with both of the losses, while UC San Diego imporves their record to 19-12 and CSU San Bernardino improves to 16-24. The next games for Chaminade are on April 4th. They play three games tomorrow; they play Humbolt State University, California State Stanislaus University and Sanoma State University in the 2009 Tournament of Champions Presented by Mizuno in Stantislaus, California..
