San Francisco, CA- The first match of the California Clash Tournament at San Francisco State was a five set battle with Cal State East Bay. The Pioneers took this one (25-21, 23-25, 25-27, 26-24, 15-5) to split the season series with CUH.
Senior Courtney Lorusso (Los Angeles, CA/Glendora) led the way for Chaminade with 18 kills and 8 digs for the Swords. Whitney Vivieros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) and Malilimago Toailoa (Waikaloa, HI/ Kealakehe) each added 9 kills in defeat. The loss marked the second straight match the Swords were up 2 games to 1 before falling in five games.
Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 42 assists for CUH.
