Honolulu, HI- Chaminade and Dominican matched up in a back and forth affair this morning before finishing in a 2-2 tie on St. Louis Field.
The Swords got on the board early as sophomore Jon Fukumoto (Mililani, HI/Mililani) scored on a free kick in the 7
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Penguins answered in the 27
th minute with a goal from David Mendez to knot the score at 1-1. The first half saw another goal however, as senior
Nick Ogata (Mililani, HI/Mililani) scored from in close to put the Swords up 2-1 at the break.
Dominican balanced the game at two in the 59th minute as Jordan Rode found the back of the net. The game could not be decided in regular or extra time and after 110 minutes the game concluded a 2-2 draw.
Freshman goalkeeper
Hayes Sperry (Gulf Breeze, FL/Gulf Breeze) stopped seven shots for Chaminade, continuing his impressive freshman season.
The Swords were out-shot 15-8. Chaminade never trailed in today's match. Dominican's David Mendez led all players with three shots on goal.
With the tie, Chaminade moves to 1-8-1. Dominican moves to 2-8-3. Chaminade is set to play BYU-Hawaii on October 25th at home. Kickoff is set for 10:00 AM HT at St. Louis Field.
