Waipahu, HI – The Lady Swords took on Dominican for the second straight day and for the second straight day they sent them packing without a win. CUH won the first game 8 to 0 by way of the mercy rule and 5 to 2 in the second game.
Game # 1
This game was over very quickly. The game ended by way of the mercy rule, which is, if any team is leading by 8 or more runs after 5 innings have been played, than the team losing is given “mercy” and the game is over. CUH scored one run in the Top of the second and they scored five runs in top of the third and the last two in the top of the 5th.
Chaminade was designated the “visiting” team as a result of the PACWEST rule that states if two teams play each other in back to back days, than the visiting team the first day of play suits up as the home team for second days games.
Kelly Korras started out on the mound and recorded the shutout for Silverswords of Chaminade University. She faced 20 batters; she struck out 3 and she did not give up any earned runs. She gave up just 5 hits and walked one batter.

Game # 2
The Lady Swords posted 2 runs in the top of the first inning; however, the Penguins also posted a run. After one inning of play it seemed as though Dominican determined to get at least one win in their four game series against CUH. However, the Lady Silverswords were determined and focused on getting the four game sweep.
They ended up winning the game 5 runs to 2.
The Swords best two innings of the game were the Top of the 1st and Top of the 6th inning. In fact in the sixth inning, freshman Elise Goodell, got her first collegiate hit on a hard hit line drive to left field that moved fellow first year player, Kathleen Nakata in scoring position Chaminade scored 1 run on 2hits and one Dominican error. CUH's one run came by way of Elise Goodell. She started the play on first base, Kori Berinobis hit a groundball to the short stop; the shortstop fielded the ball and threw out Kathleen Nakata for the force out. Goodell continued towards third base after the ball was thrown towards first for an attempted double play, she successfully made it to third base. Upon arriving to third, she continued towards home as the first base men was not paying attention to the runner. Goodell was 6 feet away from touching home plate when it was finally realized that she didn't stop at third. The home plate umpire yelled out, “SAAAAFE” as Goodell slid at home plate for Chaminade's final run of the game.
Chelsi Walls gets credit for the win; she improves to 4-3 on the year.
The Lady Swords are back in action tomorrow afternoon, March 13th at CORP, when they take on the Urban Knights of Academy of Art University University in a double header match up. First pitch is set for12:00PM HST, with the sweep today, CUH's record is o 11-9 overall and 8-4 in the PacWest Conference and Dominican's record is now 1-11 overall and 1-9 in the PacWest Conference.
