Waipahu, HI – The Lady Swords took on the Urban Knights of Academy of Art University today at Central Oahu Regional Park (CORP). This game was unique in that CUH bid Aloha to three key players; Kristine “Chiko” Mihara, Brandi Sasaki and Keli-Grace (KG) Kaowili- Sanatian. All of them were 4 year players for the Silverswords.
Chaminade split their two game series today @ CORP against Academy of Art, they lost the first game 3runs to 2 and the second game they won, 7runs to 0.
For the second day in a row AAU came out and scored first and ended up winning because of their strong opening inning, where they posted 2 of their 3 runs. AAU took the first game 3runs to 2.
Chelsi Walls pitched 6 innings. She faced 25 batters; she struck out 4, gave up 4 and walked one batter. Despite the effort from Chelsi, the two runs scored early really hurt the Lady Swords and they could not recover.
Chelsi Walls falls to 4-4 on the year.
Game # 2
One play, one moment in time sums up this entire game. It was the Top of the 4th inning, Kori Berinobis attempted to lay the bunt and move along fellow teammate, Keli-Grace (KG) Kaowili- Sanatian who singled to start off the inning. The bunt was fielded cleanly and scooped up by the catcher, however, she over threw the first basemen. The ball rolled all the way to the right field wall and just like that the score was Lady Swords 2 runs Urban Knights of AAU 0 runs.
Chaminade's last two runs came in the Top of the 6th inning by way of 2 doubles, one by Skye Virtudes and senior left fielder, Kristine “Chico” Mihara. At the end of 6 innings played the score was 7 to 0.
Kelly Korras gets credit for the win; she improves to 5-3 on the year.
