Game # 2
Kasy'e Lalau pitched all 7 innings for the Lady Swords tonight; in fact she was 7 outs away from a no hitter. She has yet to through a no hitter in her collegiate career. Tonight she faced 30 batters, she struck out 3 and gave up 2 earned runs on 6 hits. Those 6 hits came in the ladder part of the game.
Kasy'e Lalau's thoughts on tonight's game, “Tonight was a lot fun. As a pitcher, you dream about pitching a no hitter, it's something you strive to do each and every time you take the mound. Unfortunately, it didn't happen, we got the win though, so that's really that matters to me. The team played awesome tonight! I came into the game mentally ready and extremely focused to my best.. I am proud of the team, we played well enough to win.”
This game was a no hitter going into the bottom of the third inning. Team captain, Keli-Grace (KG) Kaowili- Sanatian, she broke the game open with a hard hit ball up the middle that reached the CF with ease. Chaminade was unable to capitalize on the hit by KG. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Dawn Dela Cruz singled to short stop with two outs, the Lady Swords were unable to capitalize and again went back to the bench having not scored a run. KG Kaowili- Sanatian, once again got things started with a lead off double in the bottom of the 6th inning, unfortunately NDNU fought hard and was able to stop CUH from doing anything more that inning.
It took 8 innings before any runs were scored, NDNU scored them in the Top of the 8th inning, a clutch leadoff single and later a triple to deep left center field was how this epic battle ended.
Kasy'e Lalau is charged with tonight's loss, she falls to 1-4 on the year.
