Honolulu, HI – The Lady Swords took on the Seasiders of BYU- Hawaii yesterday afternoon and ended up splitting their double header, they won the first game 6runs to 2 and lost the second game by a score of 1 to 0.
Game # 1: Chaminade came out strong and posted 5 of their 6 runs in the first two innings of play. BYU- Hawaii managed to attempt a rally late in the game, however, they were only able to score 2 runs and fell 6 to 2.
Kelly Korras pitched all seven innings, she gave up 6 hits on 27 batters faced and both of the two runs that scored were earned runs.
Kelly Korras improves her record to she falls to 6-13 on the year.
Game # 2: The Seasiders scored the only run in the game in the bottom of the third inning. The run came on a single to centerfield that scored a runner who had gotten on earlier in the inning because of a walk.
Both teams battled each other and both teams, came close to scoring runs, however the lone run in the bottom of the third was all BYUH needed to secure the spilt.
Kasy'e Lalau pitched the entire game; she faced 25 batters, gave up 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 2 in the loss.
She falls to 6 -11 on the year.
The Lady Swords take BYU Hawaii again at Laie, HI on April 16, 2010. First pitch of the double header is set for 1PM. With the spilt today the Lady Swords record is now 15-31 overall and BYU- Hawaii stands at 4-31.
