Kaneohe, HI – The Lady Swords of Chaminade University concluded their 2010 season today. They fell to cross town rival Hawaii Pacific University. The scores for the games were as follows, in game 1 HPU scored 12 runs to 3 and game 2 HPU scored 2 runs to 0.
Game # 1: Chaminade managed only 5 hits and as a team they gave up 7 of their 12 runs in the first inning. CUH could not recover and ended up losing by way of the mercy rule.
Chelsi Walls pitched all five innings, she gave up 12 hits on 37 batters faced and all 12 runs were earned.
She is charged with the loss. She concludes her junior year with a record of 4 wins and 8 losses.
Game # 2: This game was a much closer game however, CUH fell 2 runs to 0. HPU scored their 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and thanks in large part to solid pitching and defense on their end, they were able to hold off the Silverswords.
Chaminade held the high powered batters of HPU to just 5 hits and they recorded 4 hits of their own in the loss.
Kasy'e Lalau pitched the entire game; she faced 27 batters, gave up 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 2 in the loss.
She is charged with the loss. She completes her junior year with a record of 7 wins and 13 losses.
The future looks bright for the Silverswords as this is the first time in school history, that any team has ever won 17 games. Chaminade says “Aloha” to three key players, Kristine “Chiko” Mihara, Brandi Sasaki and Keli-Grace (KG) Kaowili- Sanatian. All of them were 4 year players for the Silverswords.
CUH finishes out the 2010 season with a record of 17-35 overall and 13-19 in the Pacific West Conference.
