Honolulu, HI – The last time the Lady Swords took the floor they snapped a 30 game losing streak. Despite putting forth a great effort tonight, they fell to the Vulcans of University of Hawaii @ Hilo by a score of 53 to 67.
Chaminade trailed by just 9 points at the break, despite shooting 30%. They trailed 20 to 29, Freshman
Jordan Ahakuelo (Pearl City, HI/ Pearl City), led the team at the break with 10 points; Sophomore
Rachael Rickard (Lahaina, HI/ Lahaina), contributed with 6 points for the 1
st half.
CUH came out in the second half and forced 3 turnovers and scored the first 5 points of the second half and forced Coach David Kaneshiro to call the half's first timeout at 17:30, CUH trailed 25 to 29.
The Lady Swords never gave up, they fought hard until the final buzzer and although they ended up losing by 14 points, three Lady Swords were in double figures,
Jordan Ahakuelo finished up with 16 points and 4 boards,
Rachael Rickard finished the night with 10 points and 6 rebounds and
Jamie Higa (Honolulu, HI/ Kalani) rounded out Chaminade with 13 points and 2 rebounds.
CUH won the turnover battle forcing UH- Hilo to 28, while the Lady Swords ended up with just 18 on the night.

The Lady Swords finished up the night shooting just 29% from the floor, while the Vulcans of UH- Hilo shot an impressive 44% on the night.
The Lady Swords had no answer for the Vulcans 6'2, Junior Hillary Hurley (Anderson, CA / Enterprise), who posted 20 points and 18 boards in tonight's Pacific West Conference match.
The Lady Swords next basketball game is January 27th, in Phoenix, Arizona against PACWEST member, Grand Canyon University. With the loss Chaminade falls to 1-10 on the year and 1-3 in the PacWest. While UH Hilo improves to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the PacWest. Tip off for Grand Canyon University is set for 5:00PM MST.
