HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade Men's Soccer took on CBU this afternoon at St. Louis Field and fell in a 2-1defeat. The start of play saw an early Lancer goal as Osvaldo Batisda scored the goal off a pass from Marc Hope. The Swords would not let the early setback dictate their play on this afternoon.
Back and forth continued throughout the first half of this Pac West Conference affair until Chaminade responded to CBU's goal with a goal of their own in the 38
th minute of action. Freshman
Max Gerwalt (Wiesbaden, Ger/ Europaschule) scored off a great pass from freshman
Neil Guiang (Honolulu, HI/ Waipahu) to even the match. The match went to the half with the score knotted at 1-1. The competitiveness of the first half was reflected in the shot count, as CBU held the slightest of advantages at 7-6.
The second half saw more great Pac West action. The Lancers found the go-ahead goal from Tyler Aagard off an assist from Marc Hope to regain the lead 2-1 in the 55
th minute. CBU possessed the ball for most of the second half with Chaminade creating intermittent chances throughout.
Freshman goalkeeper,
Jose Miguel Pena (Santiago, Chile/St. George's) was again solid in goal for Chaminade, stopping 7 shots in defeat.
Marc Hope led the way for the Lancers with 5 shots on the match. CBU outshot CUH 20-7.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 0-12-1, 0-8 and Cal Baptist moves to 8-4, 5-1. The Swords are back in action at home on October 22
nd at 3:30 PM HT. CUH takes on Dixie State at St. Louis Field.
