PHOENIX, AZ- Chaminade continues to look for a road victory, losing to Grand Canyon today for the second time in as many days by scores of: 18-25, 14-25 and 19-25. Despite the defeat, the Swords will look to rebound against Dixie State on Thursday as they face the Red Storm in St. George, UT.
The Swords dropped the first two sets before responding in the third set offensively, hitting .125 in the set. It wasn't enough, as GCU completed the sweep winning the third set 25-19.
The Chaminade offense was led by junior
Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) who had 9 kills and 13 digs, while sophomore
Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) added 7 kills in defeat for CUH.
Senior setter
Kristina Donathan (Honolulu, HI/St. Andrew's Priory) added 18 assists and 7 digs for Chaminade.
The Swords won the dig battle for the second night in a row as Chaminade had 50 digs while Grand Canyon had 45. Senior
Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) played a big part defensively, tallying 12 digs for CUH.
GCU was led by Caelen Hiller with 9 kills.
The Swords fall to 2-15 (1-10 PWC) with the loss. The 'Lopes move to 15-6 (9-4 in PWC). Chaminade's road trip continues on October 20
th at Dixie State. First serve is set for 7 PM MT.
