Turlock, CA - The Chaminade Lady Swords kicked off 2011 Tournament of Champions of hosted by Cal State Stanislaus this afternoon on the mainland. They played three games today, Cal State Dominquez Hills in game # 1, Cal State East Bay in game
2 and Humbolt State University in game 3.
CUH lost all three games, # 1 CSDH 3 CUH 2, # 2 CSEB 1 CUH 0, # 3 HSU 3 CUH 0
GAME # 1
Chaminade's first game of the 2011 Cal State Tournament took place when most of were getting ready for work. First pitch was 10AM Pacific Standard time, the Lady Swords took on the Toros of Cal State Dominquez Hills in their first of three softball games.
The Lady Swords fell by a score of 3 runs to 2.
Game # 2
The Lady Swords took on the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay this afternoon and fell by a score of 1 runs to 1. Despite falling in this one, Chaminade can hold their heads up high. They battled, fought hard and never gave up.
The Lady Swords matched CSDH with 5 hits; however, the one and only run batted in came in the bottom of the second inning. The run scored was a homerun over the left center field wall.
Chaminade went 5 for 25 as a team and they left 6 runners on base, while CSEB went 5 for 22 and leaving just 3 runners on base. This game proved to be a defensive battle as both teams played solid throughout. However, the homerun in the bottom of the 2nd inning was the Pioneers needed to beat the Lady Swords early this morning.
Game # 3
Chaminade played its third and final game today of the tournament and fell to the Lumberjacks of Humbolt State University 3 runs to 0.
Chaminade continues its play in the 2011 Cal State Stanislaus April 1st- 3rd in Stanislaus, California. With the three losses today, the Lady Swords record stands at 9-22 overall and 5-11 in the Pacific West Conference. The Lady Swords are back in action tomorrow, April 2nd when they take on Seawolves of Sonoma State University at 9:30AM. The Lady Swords will follow that game with a game against Northwest Nazarene at 12:15PM. All games are Pacific Standard time.
