HONOLULU, HI- A clearly improved Chaminade Men's Soccer side earned a 0-0 draw with UH-Hilo in an evenly contested match at the St. Louis Field this afternoon.
Freshman goalkeeper,
Jose Miguel Pena (Santiago, Chile/St. George's) was solid in goal, making several key saves. The Swords had multiple opportunities of their own to score, but could not find the winner.
Keoki Haole led the way for the Vulcans with 8 shots on the match.
Coach Higgins stated after the game: “Getting a tie today is a good step in the right direction…starting off on the right foot is definitely a positive for the guys.”
With the draw, Chaminade moves to 0-0-1 and UH-Hilo to 1-0-1. The Swords are back in action on Sunday, September 4th at 12:30 PM HT at St. Louis Field. CUH will face Cornerstone. The match is part of a doubleheader with the Chaminade women, who play U. of Mary at 10 AM HT at the same location.
