HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade Men's Soccer continues to search for its first victory of the year, but one thing is for sure, this is a much improved CUH side.
Isaac Grotenhuis may have gotten the game winner in overtime for the Golden Eagles in the 97th minute, but what a match it was.
The first half saw uneven play from Chaminade, but the Swords and Cornerstone entered the half at 0-0.
Still deadlocked at 0-0 late in the second half, it appeared that CUH freshman
Uriel Soto (Dallas, TX/Duncanville) had the game-winner in the 74
th minute as his shot beat the keeper and hit the inside of the right post before spinning out.
Chaminade found another post in overtime (92
nd minute) as junior
Patrick Wolverton (Anchorage, AK/ Peninsula College) lofted one over the keeper but found the same right post Soto did nearly twenty minutes earlier.
Wolverton was aggressive all afternoon for Chaminade with four shots for the match.
Freshman goalkeeper,
Jose Miguel Pena (Santiago, Chile/St. George's) was again in goal, making several key saves, with a total of 7 saves for the day.
Isaac Grotenhuis led the way for Cornerstone with 4 shots on the match.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 0-1-1 and Cornerstone moves to 1-2. The Swords are back in action on Friday, September 9th at 7:00 PM HT at the Waipio Soccer Complex against HPU.
