CUH MSOC: Chaminade Drops Close Contest to Academy of Art 2-1

Galloway scores for Swords

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade lost a physical home match this morning against the Urban Knights of Academy of Art 2-1 in PacWest Conference action.
 
Chaminade was solid early, as junior midfielder Samuel Galloway (Akron, OH/Copley) nearly got the Swords an early lead, hitting the post early on.  CUH eventually got on the board first as a corner kick by Jose Carranza (Winnetaa, CA/Canoga Park) was finished with a header by Galloway to earn a 1-0 lead for CUH in the 25th minute of action.
 
The Urban Knights responded with a penalty kick goal in the 39th minute by Grimur Grimmson to tie the contest at 1-1.  The Silverswords dominated the first half shot total, 8-3.
 
The second half was a tough fight on both sides as each team looked for the game-winner.  Seventy minutes in, the game was still knotted at 1-1.
 
The Urban Knights got the second goal they were looking for with sixteen minutes left.  Thobby Sveinsson tallied the goal which turned out to be the game-winner.
 
Freshman Colton Gallt (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield South) had three shots while Swords freshman backup goalkeeper Tom Higgins (Wakefield, RI/ South Kingstown) finished with three saves.
 
Galloway led CUH with four shots. The Silverswords won the shot total 14-12.
 
With the loss, Chaminade moves to (2-10-3, 2-8-3 PWC). Academy of Art improves to (4-11-1, 3-8-1 PWC).  Chaminade is back in action vs. BYU-Hawaii on November 3rd. The match is set for 1:00 PM HT.  It is senior day for the Swords.
