CUH MSOC: Swords Fall in Tough Conference Road Match to Dixie State 2-1

Sato scores in defeat

Box Score ST. GEORGE, UT- In the first road match of a four match road swing, Chaminade fell to the Red Storm of Dixie State by a score of 2-1.
 
The first half was very evenly played, both on the scoreboard and in the shot totals.  At half Chaminade was outshooting Dixie 6-5, and was tied with the Red Storm 1-1 at the break.  Ryan Benevente got the scoring going in 40th minute, but Chaminade sophomore midfielder Dayton Sato (Waipahu, HI/Pearl City) answered thirty-five seconds later to tie the score at 1-1. 
 
Benevente scored again midway through the second half (65th Minute) to give Dixie State a 2-1 lead that they would hold onto for the win. 
 
Conor Knox (O'Fallon, IL/ O'Fallon Township) made 5 saves in for CUH.  Chaminade lost the shot tally 11-8.
 
Coach Higgins commented after the contest: “We had good possession, creative play and solid defense in the first half.  Dayton Sato had a great equalizing goal to tie the match at halftime.  Dixie came out strong in the second half and we struggled to match their intensity and play our style of game.”
 
With the defeat, Chaminade moves to (1-6-1, 1-4-1 PWC). Dixie State moves to (4-6-1, 3-3-1 PWC).  Chaminade is set to head to Cal Baptist on October 8th at the CBU Soccer Field.  Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM PT.
