HONOLULU, HI – Mamadou Diarra, a former Silversword (2009-11), was recently selected by the LA D-Fenders in the 8
th round (121
st overall) in the 2012 NBA Developmental League Draft.
Diarra had a standout junior campaign for Chaminade, including 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks against Michigan State in the Silverswords opener in the 2010 EA Sports Maui Invitational. The 7'0 center from Bamako, Mali averaged a double-double in 2010-11, scoring 13.3 points per game along with 10.0 rebounds per contest. Diarra shot 72% from the free-throw line and 58% from the floor en route to First Team All PacWest honors. Chaminade won the 2010-11 PacWest Men's Basketball Championship.
The LA D-Fenders play all home games at Toyota Sports Center; the Lakers practice facility in El Segundo, California. Diarra and the D-Fenders open the season on November 28
th at home against Idaho. Los Angeles won the 2011-12 Developmental Champion Award winning a D-League record thirty-eight contests.
