Box Score 2 WAIPIO, HI –The Swords split two conference contests with the Argonauts of NDNU today, losing 6-4 in game one and responding to win game two 8-5 at Central Oahu Regional Park.
CUH and NDNU went back and forth in game one before the Swords lost 6-4. Freshman pitcher
Brett Aspel (Redondo Beach, CA, Redondo Union) took the loss for Chaminade.
The Argonauts scored in the top of the first, but the Silverswords answered, scoring two runs on four hits, all singles, in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. Freshman
Aja Keyes (Kaneohe, HI/Lutheran), junior
Letisha Vaba (Stockton, CA/San Joaquin Delta JC) and
Kori Berinobis (Kaneohe, HI/Castle) started the rally with back to back to back singles. NDNU answered with two runs in the third and another run in the fourth to lead 4-2.
The Swords scored twice in the fifth as RBI singles by senior catcher Anuhea Yamaguchi (Ewa Beach, HI/Campbell) and
Letisha Vaba tied the score at 4-4 heading to the sixth.
A double by Janae Reyes scored two runs for NDNU in the top of the sixth to regain the lead 6-4. Reyes was stellar, going 4-4 in game one for the Argos. Notre Dame de Namur held on for the 6-4 game one win.
In game two, The Argonauts got out to an early first inning lead, tallying one run in the first. The Swords responded with four runs in the second inning courtesy of a grand slam homerun to right field by senior outfielder
Dawn Dela Cruz (Honolulu, HI/Moanalua). The homer gave CUH a 4-1 lead. NDNU scored a run in the fourth inning to close the gap to 4-2.
The Argos added three runs in the bottom of the fifth, helped by two Chaminade defensive errors to gain the lead, 5-4. The Silverswords added two runs in the sixth via a double by
Kori Berinobis to take a 6-5 lead, then another double by
Aja Keyes in the seventh inning scored two more runs for CUH, giving the Swords an 8-5 lead.

Kaitlyn Watanabe (Kula, HI/Baldwin High) got the win for CUH in game two, going the distance for Chaminade.
Janae Reyes led NDNU with five hits on the doubleheader.
Chaminade is back in action for a doubleheader against Academy of Art on March 21
st in Waipio, HI (CORP). First pitch is set for 4:30 PM HT.
The Swords move to 6-8, 5-3 in PWC with the split, while Notre Dame de Namur moves to 13-11 overall, 3-6 in the PWC.
