CUH Softball: Silverswords Fall to Cal Baptist 10-1 (6 inn.) and 8-0 (5 inn.)

Strom-Okimoto leads CUH with two hits

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RIVERSIDE, CA –The Swords fell to the California Baptist Lancers today in two conference contests at Funk Stadium on the CBU campus.
 
Freshman pitcher Brett Aspel (Redondo Beach, CA, Redondo Union) took the loss for Chaminade in game one, giving up ten runs on twelve hits in the 10-1 loss.
 
The Silverswords got on the board in the fifth inning after Letisha Vaba (Stockton, CA/San Joaquin Delta JC).  Freshman Shannan Hokama (Torrance, CA/South) and junior shortstop Rayna Strom-Okimoto (Aiea, HI/Aiea) combined for the two CUH hits in game one.  Sloan McHann hit a homerun for the second time in as many days for CBU going 1-2 with a home-run, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI's in game one. The Lancers took control early, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings and won 10-1 in six innings.  Emma Holden earned the win for Cal Baptist. 
 
The Lancers offense got going again in game two, scoring four runs in the second and third innings and earned the 8-0 win in five innings.  Chaminade was unable to score, but did get hits Rayna Strom-Okimoto, Kori Berinobis (Kaneohe, HI/Castle) and Anuhea Yamaguchi (Ewa Beach, HI/Campbell), who had a double. 
 
Kailey Willingham and Danae Leiser each had two hits for CBU and game two while Tory Ferreira earned the win, pitching five shutout innings.   
 
Freshman pitcher Kaitlyn Watanabe (Kula, HI/Baldwin) took the loss for Chaminade in game two, giving up 8 hits and 8 runs in 2 2/3 innings.
 
Chaminade is back in action for a rescheduled doubleheader against Dominican on March 28th in Turlock, CA. First pitch is set for 6:00 PM PT. 
 
The Swords move to 6-16, 5-11 in PWC with the losses, while Cal Baptist moves to 28-5 overall, 14-4  in the PWC.
