Box Score TURLOCK, CA –Chaminade fell to fellow conference member Dixie State 11-2 in a Saturday afternoon contest at The Tournament of Champions.
The Red Storm got out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first and three runs in the second inning before CUH would answer. Chaminade did respond, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second with a single by senior outfielder

Rayna Strom-Okimoto (Aiea, HI/Aiea) continues to have a hot bat for the Swords, going 2-3 against the Red Storm. Strom-Okimoto and freshman
Elia Lizarraga (Torrance, CA/Narbonne) shared pitching duties in defeat with Strom-Okimoto getting tagged with the loss. Dixie State won the contest 11-2 after scoring three more runs in the fifth inning to win by the eight-run rule.
Dela Cruz also finished with two hits for the Silverswords. Courtney Sherwin led Dixie State with three RBI's. Chaminade had eight hits while the Red Storm had fifteen on the contest.
Coach Yamaguchi commented on the game: “Dixie State jumped us pretty early with eight runs. We were able to hit their pitcher, with Rayna (Strom-Okimoto), Shannan (Hokama) and others still hitting well for us. Our defense took a few innings to get used to some position players pitching and that hurt us.”
Chaminade is back in action against Western Washington in a non-conference matchup in Turlock, CA. First pitch is set for 8:00 AM PT on April 1st. The contest was originally scheduled for today but was postponed due to weather.
The Swords move to 10-18, 7-11 PWC with the loss, while Dixie State moves to 21-9.
