Box Score 2 WAIPIO, HI –Chaminade, in their first PacWest Conference action of 2012, swept a Sunday afternoon doubleheader against the Penguins of Dominican (CA) at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Chaminade was on the offensive early in game one, with
Letisha Vaba (Stockton, CA/San Joaquin JC),
Rayna Strom-Okimoto (Aiea, HI/Aiea High),
Shannan Hokama (Torrance, CA/South) and
Aja Keyes (Kaneohe, HI/Lutheran) all earning first inning singles as CUH scored four runs in the opening inning.
Dominican responded to Chaminade's score with two runs, one run each in the second and third innings to cut the lead to 4-2 going into the bottom of the third inning. The first game finished up with the same score, 4-2 Chaminade.

Kaitlyn Watanabe (Kula, HI/Baldwin High) got the win for CUH in game one.
Freshman
Shannan Hokama got the Swords on the board in game two, driving in two runs with a triple in the top of the second to take a 2-0 lead. After Strom-Okimoto drove in a run in the third, Dominican answered with a run of their own. In the top of the fourth, CUH sophomore
Theresa Capllonch (Kailua, HI/Kalaheo) started the inning with a triple and Chaminade scored two more runs to lead 5-1. Following a Penguin run in the bottom of the fourth, CUH scored three more runs in the fifth and the Swords led 8-2. Chaminade won the second game by a score of 10-2 in six innings as the Swords had 15 hits in an impressive offensive performance in the win. Senior Anuhea Yamaguchi (Ewa Beach, HI/Campbell) along with
Theresa Capllonch each had three hits for the Swords in game two.
Freshman pitcher
Brett Aspel (Redondo Beach, CA, Redondo Union) earned the win in game two as the Swords won the second contest 10-2.
Kayleigh Klingberg led the way with three hits over two games for Dominican.
Chaminade is back in action for a doubleheader against the Penguins on March 6
th in Waipio, HI (CORP). First pitch is set for 4:30 PM HT.
The Swords move to 3-5, 2-0 in PWC with the sweep, while Dominican (CA) moves to 2-13 overall, 0-2 in the PWC.
