Box Score 2 HILO, HI – Chaminade was defeated in two conference games with Hawaii-Hilo in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader against the Vulcans. The Silverswords lost game one 10-0 in five innings and fell in game two 8-0 in six innings.
Chaminade struggled to get the offense going in game one, as CUH managed just two hits and left three on base.
Rayna Strom-Okimoto (Aiea, HI/Aiea) and
Elia Lizarraga (Torrance, CA/Narbonne) combined for the two hits. The Vulcans scored five runs in the first, three in the second and two in the third to win in five innings.
Freshman
Brett Aspel (Redondo Beach, CA/Redondo Union) took the game one loss for the Swords, giving up eight runs on ten hits in two innings.
Game two saw Chaminade get the bats going slightly, but were unable to score any runs as the Swords left seven runners on base on four hits. Freshman
Aja Keyes (Kaneohe, HI/Lutheran) went 2-3 in game two to lead the Swords. Chaminade had the bases loaded in the third inning trailing 3-0 to Hilo with only one out, but were unable to take advantage. UHH did not have a big inning in game two, instead tacking on one or two runs in each of the six innings to win 8-0.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Watanabe (Kula, HI/Baldwin) took the loss for CUH in the second contest, giving up eight runs and allowing thirteen hits.
Chaminade is back in PacWest conference action on April 29th against Hawaii Pacific in Kaneohe, HI. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM HT.
The Swords move to 15-30, 9-23 PWC, while Hawaii-Hilo goes to 24-18, 18-11 PWC with the sweep.
