CUH MSOC: Chaminade Fall Just Short to First Place Argos 2-1

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- The Swords faced a stiff test this morning in Notre Dame de Namur, the first place team in the PacWest Conference through yesterday's action.  Chaminade battled the Argos in a close, competitive match at the St. Louis Soccer Field.
 
The Argonauts got on the board in the 11th minute, with a goal by Armando Garcia off an assist by Rodrigo Perez.  Following some tough Chaminade defense, NDNU took the 1-0 lead into the half.
 
Chaminade answered quickly in the second half as a goal by freshman Paul Schloz (Hemmingen, Germany / Carl-Friedrich-Gauss-Schule) off an assist by Jose Furman (Miami, FL/ Miami Country Day) knotted the contest at 1-1 in the 46th minute and gave the Silverswords life. 
 
An NDNU goal in the 69th minute allowed the Argos to retake the lead as Armando Garcia, who was impressive all day, tallied his second goal of the match.  The Swords had several chances to tie the match, but could not find the equalizer and fell by a final score of 2-1.       
 
Junior Conor Knox (O'Fallon, IL/ O'Fallon) made 5 saves for CUH.  NDNU won the shot total 17-8.  Jack Ewert of the Argonauts led all players with 4 shots. 
 
With the loss, Chaminade moves to (1-4-1, 1-2-1 PWC). NDNU improves to 7-0-1, 4-0-1 PWC).  Chaminade is set to take on Fresno Pacific on September 29th at the St. Louis Soccer Field.  The match is set for 1:00 PM HT.
