MSOC: Swords Can’t Overcome Cougars

Sato scored his first goal of the year against APU on Saturday.
Box Score AZUSA, Calif. – The Chaminade men's soccer team remained winless on the season after dropping a 6-1 decision to Azusa Pacific in a Pacific West Conference game Saturday night at Cougar Soccer Complex.
 
The loss dropped the Silverswords to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the PacWest. Cougars improved to 8-3 and 5-1.
 
APU opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a Keenan Armbrust goal, the Swords counted on Dayton Sato's first goal of the season, a chip shot over the goalkeeper to knot the game at 1 at the 36th minute mark.
 
The Cougars took the lead three minutes later on a Keyran Kelly goal, as APU held a 2-1 advantage going into halftime.
 
Azusa Pacific made it a two-goal lead at 3-1 on Kelly's second goal of the game at the 50th minute, then added three more down the stretch.
 
CUH attempted seven shots in the second half, but was held to only one in the second. APU attempted 29 in the match.
 
The Swords will conclude their road trip Tuesday at California Baptist.
