Box Score HILO, Hawai'i – The Chaminade men's soccer team played its first game outside of O'ahu Saturday, but still couldn't pull out a win, falling in a 2-1 non-conference squeaker to Hawai'i-Hilo at UH-Hilo Baseball Field.
The Vulcans (1-1-1) scored a mere 40 seconds into the game when James Yamane scored on a breakaway. UH-Hilo took a 2-nil lead on a Thomas Murphy goal in the 28
th minute.
The Silverswords (0-3) got a goal back when
Tristan Hall found the back of the net in the 38
th minute, his first of the season.
But that would be it for CUH. The match was also physical with 27 total fouls as well as intense with six cards handed out, including a red issued against the Swords.
The Vulcans outshot the Swords, 7-3, but Chaminade held the corner kick advantage, 5-3. UH-Hilo keeper Yonha Andrabi stopped a pair of shots, but Swords net-minder
Nic Jetter stopped one.
The Swords return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17 when they host BYU-Hawai'i in a non-conference match at St. Louis Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
